Wanted The Perfect Pet

Wanted The Perfect Pet is a very good book by Fiona Robertson, this book talks about this boy who wanted the perfect pet for himself, He put up advertisements and looked everywhere for the perfect pet for himself. On the other side, there was a duck, who has no friends, he wanted a friend, but no one wanted him. He saw the poster the boy put up, but the boy wrote that he wanted a dog as a pet, he dressed himself up as a dog and came to the boy’s house. I made a lot of connections from this book, when the duck looked everywhere for a friend, and no one wants to be his friend, then he found the boy. I made a connection to when I was in grade 4, I have no friend at all, I looked everywhere for a friend. At last, I found this nice boy named Menta, he doesn’t have a very good friend either so we became a best friend, just like when the duck found the boy.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind is a book written by William Kam Kwamba and Bryan Mealer, illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon. The book talks about a book called Malawi, his family is very poor, and due to the sun their crops died and they have to live in hunger, he read a science book and saw a wind energy generator so he began to make wind power. Everyone thinks that he would fail but he never gave up, he and two other boys worked hard and then he actually made it. I made a connection to where Malawi never gave up making the generator even if his neighbors and family said he would fail. Once I did a drum exam, my mom said I would fail but I never gave up, then finally when the results came out I didn’t fail and I made it to another level. I made another connection where the crops died and Malawi started to search for things that would help instead of normal kids to just start to complain and didn’t do anything, once there was a contest of building towers out of chopsticks, my team’s tower fell no the last level, everyone just started to give up and stop working, but I kept looking for solutions and why the tower kept on falling.

Do cellphones belong in schools

Do cellphones belong in school is an article talking about rather cellphones should belong in schools or not, schools nowadays, 79.3 percent of all students own a cellphone, they say technology changes the world and how students use technology (cellphones and other electronics) correctly to help them in schools. Some teachers say it’s a distraction for the students to have a cellphone with the students all times. Cellphones are useful, they keep you in touch with your family and friends. IF kids use them well they can use them to reach their parents and their parents can keep track with their kids. However, there are disadvantages to using a cellphone. When kids use them too much some kids find it really hard to wake up in the morning the go to school in time, or they might experience major depression and hard to focus. When a kid uses cellphones too much it can also cause eye damage or eye tiring.  All the downsides of using too much cellphone are every effective to what you do and how you do in school. Some teachers still want kids to use cellphones to help the kids study under the supervision, for example using the phone to videotape a science experiment then posting it on a science lab report, there are also apps to help students operate and use their phone well like “Offtime” or “Moment”.

Question 1. phones first appeared in market places in the 1980s.

The Noisy Paint box : The Colours And Sounds Of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art

The Noisy Paintbox: The Colours And Sounds Of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art is a book written by Barb Rosenstock and Illustrated by Mary Granpre. This book is recommended for age 3-8, the book talks about a little boy who was gifted a wooden paint box, he started to hear sounds coming from the paint box, he started to paint the sounds that he hears. His family wouldn’t understand what he is painting so they sent him to art classes. He grew up doing things his family expected him to do. When he grew up he became a lawyer teacher. One day he went to Oprah and heard “his music” again so he begins to paint the sound of music and his feelings. He called it his abstract art. I made some connections with this book. The first connection is where the boy was expected to do things that other kids do, I was forced to do things like that too back in my home country. Another connection I made is when no one really understood his art, it happened in another book where the civilians won’t understand the hero’s doings.

There

There”, is a weird book written and illustrated by Morie-Louise Fitzpatrick. This book talks about the feelings and ideas of a little kid. The book is rather confusing at the beginning, but in the end, it became more clear and understandable. The kid always wants to go “there”, he/she is curious about everything. In the end, you can understand that the “There” is his/her future and leaving his childhood behind. One connection I made with the book is when the boy/girl wants to go to the future and curious about everything there, I was wondering just like him when I was little. I was wondering if I’m going to be a giant or if I was going to be a small little guy. Another connection I made is that at the end the little kid decided not to go to “There” cause he has lots to do in his childhood, the same happened in a book called “My Little Life” where the main character “Johnny” wants to become a grown up, he kept on trying to act like a grown up and do things like a grown up. But in the end, he wants to stay in his childhood and play as much as he can. This book’s message is tremendously innumerable, it can make a lot of kids stop their idea of becoming a grown up and do, play as much as they can before they can’t.Related image

Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story From Africa

“Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa” was written and illustrated by Jeanette Winter, and it is book make for an age group of 9-11. The book is about a woman named Wangari who lived in a small village in Kenya. She harvested the crops and shined in school which gave her a scholarship. After she got her scholarship she went to study in America, 6 years later when she came back to Kenya from college she realized that the forest was fully chopped down. She wanted to plant trees so that there would be forests again. She thought that planting trees would bring the old green Kenya back. The government wasn’t happy about it though. They thought that they needed trained men to do all this work. Later every woman in Kenya started planting trees with Wangari. The government even put her to jail for stopping them to chop the old trees down to build police towers. They may have stopped Wangari and the women’s, but they can’t stop the trees from growing. Soon after there was over millions of trees. One connection I made is when Wangari was mad at the government, I was mad at the government too when Justin Trudeau set a tax law for people that have less income here than family members that have income outside of Canada. Another connection I made is that when Wangari got stopped and sent to jail but they can’t stop the tree from growing, I made a connection with a manga called “unordinary” where an author wrote a book about everyone can be a superhero and everyone can fight the evil no matter in what ways, the government is evil and they didn’t like how the book talks about defeating evil so they banned the book, the author of that book went undercovered after that. The government may have stopped the author from producing more books but they didn’t stop people from reading it.

The Fantastic Undersea Life Of Jacques Cousteau

The Fantastic Undersea Life Of Jacques Cousteau is a very good book of Jacques Cousteau’s life adventure and his achievements, this book is for age 7-10. It’s really easy to make a connection with the things in the book, I made a lot of connections with Jacques Cousteau’s life story. A connection I have made is when Jacques Cousteau found his hobby of swimming after a car crash, I have read this book called “The Boy That Flew”. It talks about this boy who got a car crash and then when he was still in the hospital he got inspired by this man and became a runner after he was recovered.

Bat’s Big Game

Bats big game is a very good story retold by Margaret Read MacDonald Illustrated by Eugenia Nobati. This story can teach a lot of kids to not care about winning and losing, because winning and losing doesn’t matter that much, all the game is about fun not winning or losing, a game like soccer, basketball or baseball, they are all made for fun, the second part of it is competition, you have to have fun first, and the you compete. The bat in this story loves winning, there is a big soccer game and the bat just want to join the winning team, then he says he is an animal is he got the animal shirt, after a while the birds are winning so the bats asked for a birds shirt, then the animal is winning again so he joined the animal team again, because of that he got kicked out of the game, even though he was kicked out, he learned a lesson.

Kids can be very interested in a lot of things or they can be a kid that doesn’t care about other things after they read this book any kid can change. This book talks about Sir Cumference accidentally turning into a dragon out of the wrong medicine, his son Radius tries to save his dad with a poem that tells how much medicine he should eat to turn back to a human, or else he can never turn back to a human again. Radium found that the Circumference of a circle is 3.17 times the diameter and the same for every circle. When the knights are going to slay his dad in the morning, he gave his dad 3 spoons and 17 s/hspoons of the medicine and KABOOM his dad turned back to a human. After they named this 3.17 measurement PI. This book is very inspiring, when a kid is trying really hard to do something they can be really successful, same when a kid has a dream or thing that they want to achieve in all their will they can be really successful, just like radius in the story, he tried really hard to save his dad and at last he did it.
