The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind is a book written by William Kam Kwamba and Bryan Mealer, illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon. The book talks about a book called Malawi, his family is very poor, and due to the sun their crops died and they have to live in hunger, he read a science book and saw a wind energy generator so he began to make wind power. Everyone thinks that he would fail but he never gave up, he and two other boys worked hard and then he actually made it. I made a connection to where Malawi never gave up making the generator even if his neighbors and family said he would fail. Once I did a drum exam, my mom said I would fail but I never gave up, then finally when the results came out I didn’t fail and I made it to another level. I made another connection where the crops died and Malawi started to search for things that would help instead of normal kids to just start to complain and didn’t do anything, once there was a contest of building towers out of chopsticks, my team’s tower fell no the last level, everyone just started to give up and stop working, but I kept looking for solutions and why the tower kept on falling.

Do cellphones belong in schools

Do cellphones belong in school is an article talking about rather cellphones should belong in schools or not, schools nowadays, 79.3 percent of all students own a cellphone, they say technology changes the world and how students use technology (cellphones and other electronics) correctly to help them in schools. Some teachers say it’s a distraction for the students to have a cellphone with the students all times. Cellphones are useful, they keep you in touch with your family and friends. IF kids use them well they can use them to reach their parents and their parents can keep track with their kids. However, there are disadvantages to using a cellphone. When kids use them too much some kids find it really hard to wake up in the morning the go to school in time, or they might experience major depression and hard to focus. When a kid uses cellphones too much it can also cause eye damage or eye tiring.  All the downsides of using too much cellphone are every effective to what you do and how you do in school. Some teachers still want kids to use cellphones to help the kids study under the supervision, for example using the phone to videotape a science experiment then posting it on a science lab report, there are also apps to help students operate and use their phone well like “Offtime” or “Moment”.

The Noisy Paint box : The Colours And Sounds Of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art

The Noisy Paintbox: The Colours And Sounds Of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art is a book written by Barb Rosenstock and Illustrated by Mary Granpre. This book is recommended for age 3-8, the book talks about a little boy who was gifted a wooden paint box, he started to hear sounds coming from the paint box, he started to paint the sounds that he hears. His family wouldn’t understand what he is painting so they sent him to art classes. He grew up doing things his family expected him to do. When he grew up he became a lawyer teacher. One day he went to Oprah and heard “his music” again so he begins to paint the sound of music and his feelings. He called it his abstract art. I made some connections with this book. The first connection is where the boy was expected to do things that other kids do, I was forced to do things like that too back in my home country. Another connection I made is when no one really understood his art, it happened in another book where the civilians won’t understand the hero’s doings.
